Brought together by 2009 Mr. Exotic World title-holder Hot Toddy, the Stage Door Johnnies are Chicago’s only all male burlesque group. Performers Ray Gunn, Jett Adore, and Bazuka Joe give the audience a rare glimpse at classic burlesque with a male twist. The Stage Door Johnnies model themselves after burlesque icons like Bettie Paige and Sally Rand, applying the concepts of the tease, surprise reveals, and tongue-in-cheek gags and gimmicks. They blend modern references with retro-style conventions, keeping true to the classic form that made the strip tease so famous in the early 20th Century.
