Lonely Cub & Our Friends the Insects began at the very end of 2009 as the collaboration of the few kids in a music program who didn't want to be limited to playing jazz and classical music. Shows were played, lineups changed.
In 2012, the Landlocked EP was released just before band leader Forest Cochran sought new experiences with old friends in the promised land of Portland, Oregon. Although very little of his time was spent playing music on the west coast, it was an experience that led Cochran to come back to his hometown of Des Moines with a new, more mature attitude toward writing and playing music.
